Rough Draft - lyrics


This is just a quick rough draft
Not a finished song
Some lines seem short enough
But others run on way too long

I have to release what’s in my head
Or I won’t sleep while I lie in bed
I have to release what’s in my head
I toss and turn and sweat instead

The ideas come when I’m half awake
And they make me turn the light back on
Though the rest of my night’s sleep’s at stake
I write them down or they’re forever gone

Tomorrow I’ll read what I wrote
And I’ll be glad that I took the time
